Help
Quick answers for signing in and reaching your nest. Start here.
Can't open nest.pairnets.app?
Your nest is your own server, so the name only works while that machine — and its tunnel to the internet — is running.
- Check the name is typed exactly:
nest.pairnets.app. - Reload the page, or try from another device. Works there? Then it's this device's internet connection.
- On the server:
sudo systemctl status pairnets-server pairnets-tunnel— both should say active (running).
Still stuck? The guide has a "Check it from outside" section with more.
"Can't reach it" under "Your nest" in the app
Same causes: the name is mistyped, or your nest isn't running. Fix that, then change the name slightly and back, or press Sign in again; the line under the box checks the address as you type.
The code expired, or my nest said no
Codes last 10 minutes. Press Get a new code (or Start over) in the app and approve the new one. Always check that the code on your nest matches the code in the app before pressing Allow.
"Signed out of your nest"
This computer was removed on your nest, or you pressed Sign out of this computer. Nothing is lost: your files are untouched. Press Sign in again… and approve it on your nest.
I lost my passkey or password
On the server, make a new one-time sign-in link and open it in your browser:
sudo -u pairnets /opt/pairnets/pairnets-server owner-link
A computer was lost or stolen
Open your nest, go to Devices, and remove it from the ⋯ menu. Its key stops working at once and nothing else changes.
Which of my data does pairnets.app see?
None. This website is static pages with no accounts and no scripts that talk to anyone. Your nest is your own server; signing in and approving computers happens there, never here.
